On Sunday May 31st Capt. Alan Jones II passed away. Alan is my best friends husband. He was 40 years old and his passing was unexpected. He left behind Teri, Aaron, Brandon and Little Alan. His passing has changed all lives close to Teri. For me it is the closest experience to losing my own Jeff. And to say I am changed is an understatement. I have been forced to look into my own self and my own life. After talking with Jeff we have decided to make HUGE changes in our lives. Some will be apparent to others and some will not. But today, things are changing. One of the changes is our family blog...today is the last entry. This hobby takes a lot of time from me when I do it. And that time I need to use somewhere else. I am still going to read my favorites..but I am going back to scrapbooking, picture developing and those things my kids can actually hold when it matters the most. So farewell internet friends. Below is the sign off that we heard Wednesday as we sat in front of Alan's police station. Alan was on duty when he passed and therefore never signed off until Wednesday. Here it is...and...Jeff travels on July 19th to bring home little Corbin...please remember them in prayer.
Below is the transcript of the Final Radio Call that was made during my dad's funeral today on 6/3. Please read the text aloud to fully bring out the impact. For those who are unfamiliar with the police department, 10-42 means that he has logged out of duty (and usually means they are heading home). Speedway 101 was his unit number; below is the text....
All units stand by: Speedway 101 is requesting 10-42. On May 31, 2009, Sergeant Alan Jones answered his final call. So sad by this final post...about your dear friend Alan, his grieving family, and also the thought of not being able to check in on your blog anymore.
Please reconsider about this being your last post. Maybe just an infrequent post when you are able is better than nothing. :( Will miss you. Praying for Corbin's safe journey home to his loving mama's arms. YAY CORBIN!!!!!!!
The final transcript brought me to tears. Godspeed, sweet Alan. You will be so deeply missed!!!
