Homeschool=Happiness

Well several weeks into homeschooling and we have survived! The kids love it and honestly, I love it too! This week has been like having a substitute (Daddy) so with lots of Christmas pages to work on and fun stuff they are enjoying my time off.

The first couple of weeks were based on creation and if you ask Jayden I think she can tell you what day God created the seeds. I am finding that I like the cirriculum I purchased but it is always being tweaked. With that being said, I am not sure I will buy it next year, I think I can do my own. So we studied creation and come Monday we will be starting our Christmas Lapbook. I know there is a professional term for a lapbook but I don't know it. It is like a book report on a poster board. I know the kids will love doing them.

We will learn about the holiday, the symbols and there meanings and so on. I know Jesus is the reason for the season but there is also history there to learn. So we will do that through a lapbook for each child. Then after the new year we start a new unit, The Sun/The Son. I think we will breeze through this program. Of course Karras is more advanced besides his language but Kale and Jayden seem to be going through it fast too.

This weekend Jeff and the boys are headed to Chicago while us girls (me and Jayden most likely) will be at home baking cookies for gift giving. So with the Christmas carols blasting, fireplace lit and cookies baking in the oven I will be smiling from ear to ear thankful to be here enjoying my family this holiday season!
